Abstract

The key to the success of hypertension therapy is the long-term and continuous control of blood pressure. One of the efforts to control blood pressure is by taking anti-hypertensive drugs on an ongoing basis. However, the level of adherence to taking antihypertensive drugs in hypertensive patients tends to be low. The condition is influenced by many factors, some of which are factors related to the length of time suffering from hypertension and exposure to information received by people with hypertension. The length of time-consuming can trigger boredom and boredom in taking drugs, while credible information can increase individual behavior to get healing. This study aims to analyze the relationship between exposure to information and the duration of suffering from hypertension with medication adherence. This study was conducted on hypertensive patients who have been diagnosed with hypertension. The sample size is 320 people, with the criteria of having hypertension for at least six months and actively seeking medical treatment. The research data was collected using a questionnaire using the technique of accidental sampling. The data collected were analyzed statistically and presented univariate and bivariate. Correlation test using Chi-Square test with a significance of  0.05. The results of this study showed that the majority of respondents did not comply with taking medication. Results Statistical test of the correlation between exposure to information and length of suffering from hypertension with medication adherence showed p-values ​​of 0.000 and 0.000, respectively. The results showed that there was a relationship between exposure to information and length of time suffering from hypertension and adherence to taking antihypertensive drugs.
